BMMF Bids for ISCM World Music Days

CHEN Danbu, professor of Central Conservatory of Music and BMMF Academic Director, and Executive Director YIN Feng went to Wroclaw in Poland to participate in the World Music Days held by the International Society for Contemporary Music (ISCM) and bid for World Music Days 2018 on behalf of Beijing Modern Music Festival (BMMF). Professor CHEN Danbu delivered a speech to participants from more than 50 countries in the world and made the preliminary bidding presentation and demonstration, arousing a great interest and heat discussions of delegates from all countries.

Founded in Salzburg in Austria in 1922, ISCM is an organization aimed at promoting contemporary classical music and holds World Music Days in different countries on a yearly basis in a bid to facilitate top-notch creation and performance of contemporary music. Works of many outstanding composers in the world were performed at the World Music Days 2014, and new works of numerous young composers from Poland, Germany, Israel and other countries deeply impressed audiences.

The presentation made by Professor CHEN Danbu on behalf of BMMF featured distinctive Chinese characteristics, comprehensively introduced the glorious 13-year history of BMMF, demonstrated BMMF’s artistic pursuit of academic emphasis, profoundness and good taste and showed distinctive characteristics of Chinese culture. Delegates commented that BMMF’s presentation and demonstration were strongly convincing. BMMF is able to successfully bid 2018-ISCM. The final presentation and voting will be held in 2016.
